Welcome to Ascension Small Groups!
Many of the things that Christ calls us to as a church community simply can’t happen in our limited interaction on Sundays. We want to be involved in each other’s lives and encourage spiritual growth amid our day-to-day challenges. To that end, we have a variety of groups that meet during the week to provide more focused study and foster deeper relationships.
Ascension’s small groups are organized by geography, topic, or gender. Each group has 10-15 people and meets for about 90 minutes. Some groups facilitate fellowship events and service projects in addition to the regular meeting time.
Small groups meet during two terms: Fall (September to December) and Spring (January to May). The Fall term begins on Monday, September 9.
Participants sign-up for groups at the beginning of each term. If you are new to Ascension or missed the sign-ups, please contact the leader of the group you’re interested in to see if there is space available or contact Tim Haynes if you need help in finding a group that fits your interests, geography and schedule.
Thursday, 7:30 p.m.
The group is not exclusively for newcomers, but keeps space open for people new to the church to join at any point during the term and always builds in time for light snacks and socializing. If you want to get connected, this is a great place to start. The group uses the Ascension daily devotional and scripture reading schedule as a structure for its time. Tim Haynes facilitates. Contact Anna Carrington for more information.
Men’s Early Morning Group
Wednesday, 5:45 a.m.
This group meets for 45-60 minutes at Charley Sabatier’s home in south central Arlington. This fall, the group is studying the life and ministry of Paul through the book of Acts. The group is facilitated by Mike Richardson; contact Mike for more information.

Wednesday, 10 a.m.

Falls Church Group
Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
This group meets at the Laushkins’ home in the western side of Falls Church. The group uses the Compline service as a prayerful structure for each meeting. Within that structure, Andrew Litke facilitates the discussion of scripture. Contact Danielle Hitchen for more information.
Sunday, 9 a.m.
This group meets Sunday mornings in the Del Ray area of Alexandria. Schedule rotates with men/women/everyone each meeting roughly once a month. This fall, the group will be discussing practical ways to bring the Gospel into relationships in every area of your life through focus on specific current events. Location will vary, but all locations will be in Del Ray; meetings will be accompanied by brunch. Contact Becca Hall for more information.
